E9 - platform pack install issues

hello list,
I'm doing an E9 install to a RedHat Enterprise Linux box 5.1.19.16 with Oracle 10 g as the database. I'm barely on the first CD of the platform pack/enterprise server install and keeps getting this error message:
"Could not verify connection information you provide. Please ensure that Oracle is running on this box, as well as the correct info was entered!"
I'm working with our DBA and connectivity is fine. The JDEInstall.log doesn't say much. Have you guys seen this, or is there any other folder to look at as to why I keep getting this message?

I am trying the same thing and am running into the same issue. I opened up a SR today and so far they have asked me to verify the sid, home, and path of the oracle user and make sure that the umask for root is 000, which I found odd. Neither solved the problem. I'll keep you posted on what say.

1.Have you launched the JDE install process logged as root?
2.Are your releases of Linux and Oracle supported?
3.Are the proper patches/fixes installed according to MTRs?

responding to Sebastian: yes, I believe we are all good on the MTRs. and yes, I'm doing all installs logged in as root. I also opened an SR, and the stuff I tried(changing the shell scripts generated by the install into an executable object,granting permssion etc.) produced the same error. where else can look?

I am also having the same error message. Was wondering if there is anyone who has managed to crack it. I am running red hat 4 and oracle 10g. The install log does not say much. I can connect to the database as the user oracle, have enough disk space.

I believe once I saw an issue like that. We fixed it by changing the server name to lowercase in the install program. It sounds ridiculous but it helped.

They pushed my case to development. I am going to try the lower case server name now. I believe it auto fills it with all caps. I'll post the results.

Well... when I ran the installer the server name was already all lowercase. I tried to change it to all upper case but got an error saying that I cannot install the database to a remote computer. Guess I'll wait and see what Oracle says.

I think Oracle does and su as OS user oracle who owns 10g. Once its done that make sure you can execute SQLPlus in ORACLE_HOME/bin for that user. If not update the PATH in the oracle .profile

Update 4: UNIX Platforms, All Databases – Installing en_US locale

This update applies to the existing JD Edwards Enterprise One Application Release 9.0 Installation and Upgrade Guides for UNIX Platforms. A new section is added to
Chapter 4. Working With the Platform Pack. The new section, entitled: Installing the en_US Locale, is provided below.

Installing the en_US Locale

The Platform Pack installer, which is based on InstallShield MultiPlatform, requires that the en_US locale be installed. Other English locales can be present, but the installer itself is dependent on the en_US locale. Once the Platform Pack installation has completed, you can remove the en_US locale as this is not required for running EnterpriseOne Services.

I faced this one before, the way I did it is to chmod 775 to the folders and files where the runInstaller sitting. And it was running well.
