E1 Standalone Demo

Is the standalone demo a fully functional install? Does it entail an install procedure like table conversion, data conversion, etc.

Not very sure what expectations you have from a Demo. You can run any type of ube (table conversion included).
With E1 Demo you cannot build and deploy packages. Nor do you upgrade to a new release.

Hi,

It's limited functionality designed for a pre-sales demo, great tool to learn basic functional and technical skills e.g. adding address books, order-to-cash cycle, receipts-to-pay cycle, learning RDA, FDA, TDA, BSFN, etc...

I don't know if other ERP systems has a demo product that has something like JDE can do...which users can play with anytime anywhere.

Hope this helps.

Demo actually has everything in it that the full install has - its just configured to run on a "local" client, so it doesn't have the server foundation code installed.

Yes, if you play around with it, it might be possible to create packages from the standalone (but I wouldn't totally recommend trying it !)

Back in "the day" - one of the tests we used to have for prospective CNC consultants was to take a full installation of OneWorld and have the students create a standalone "demo" version with SQL Server. It wasn't really difficult, and led to the old "all-in-one" box that was used by some of the earlier ASP's...! The harder method was taking Standalone and making it a full deployment server !

As for the functionality - there really isn't anything missing, and all the code is available for any developer to look at. That is why JDE protected Standalone so much.

At one point, the VP of Tools even considered "selling" Demo Jr as a boxed product !!!
