In the Installation Guide, Installing the Deployment Server chapter there are instructions to install the OneWorld databases. Does anyone have an SQL database on their deployment server? If so, why would you? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Patty,

The databases on our deployment server are run on access. We are on XE.

The initial recommendation by JDE was to put your Central Objects on SQL on the Deployment Server. The main reason for this was to cut package build times. There has since been a change in philosophy and now the recommendation is to have all of the Data / Objects, etc. on your primary database server.

The other reason for a datbase on the deployment server was BLOBs for central objects on databases that in the old days didn't support them... These days it is all changed. Of course, with newer releases the planner and the deployment environments use a MSDE SQL database instead of MS Access. So do all fat clients' local datasources.
