Does Product packaging work for migration ??

I have two instance of JDE running, would like to build a FULL pack and cut a CD with product packaging and use it with another instance. Hope this would work for me.

Note: Instance one: AS400 and instance two: Solaris BOX.

this activity is a part of migration process, AS400 to Unix-oracle.

Thanks,

Ravi

Ravi,

To start with if you are going to use Product Packaging both your instances should be on the same release.

Secondly , making a Product Package of all objects from a full package, dont know how well that works...havent tried it. But theoretically it shoudl work fine and take care of all the intricacies that one would normally have to do when doing a manual copy procedure

For moving to Unix oracle another approach you could try is is to setup a datasource on your existing instance which points to ur oracle database on your Unix Server.

Use R98403 to copy Central Objects from dataource to another. You can manually copy Deployment Server folder to the other Deployment server.

Use an SQL query to update F983051 with your new deployment server name.

Copy over you OL table from you exsiting instance to your Unix instance so that custom objects are updated.

Build a full package and deploy...

These are just the high level steps to give you an idea.

Hope it helps

Godo Luck
