Any Ideas...Enterprise Server Setup

Hi List,
In the Installation Guide (ERP 8 for Unix) page no 3-8, under the section "Enterprise Server Installation", it is stated as follows :
ERP 8 enterprise software is loaded to the enterprise server using a separate CD provided for the purpose, rather than transferring all the software from the Deployment Server.
My Question is,
1) What do they mean by saying "rather than transferring all the software from the Deployment Server"?
2) How would the jdenet and jdeque services be configured on the enterprise server?
Any ideas..
Thank you

1. After you do the install, the statement will make more sense. It is easier to install from the CD than to copy several gigabytes from the deployment server.
2. What do you mean by how they should be configured? Very basic installs can work with the settings as shipped by JDE. Others need to adjust kernels and jobs queues to improve the user experience. Tuning is dependent on the implementation and is only done after you finish installing.

Sunny,
you are accustomed to NT, now you are installing JDE on UNIX, which is
slitely different.
The lines you quoted from the JDE manual seem to be somewhat unclear and
confusing. Software for ESs are always copied from CD, for all platforms,
ever since B732.
For NT you need to install the services by running two programs
jdesnet.exe, jdesque.exe. Under Unix, you simple start the deamons
(services) from a script after the installation is done. Unix-OS does not
distinguish between services and programms. The install manual will guide
you through the steps.
Good luck, Gerd

Shearerj,
1) Considering that there is no separate CD for Enterprise Server, will it be still possible to install Enterprise server. As the folder structure and number of files are different in both the places (Deployment Server and Enterprise Server). Also considering copying files is not an issue.
2) Considering the above assumption.. how can one install JDESNET and JDESQUE services on the enterprise server.

Gred,
Very right said.
Exactly so, thats what I wanted to know. How did one install Enterprise server prior to B732. Any ideas.
thank you
