8.0 to 9.0 Upgrde

Hi Folks,

We are in initial phase of an upgrade process... from 8.0 to 9.0 (big leap). Wanted to know how versions behave in merge/upgrade process. We have lot of versions of custom and vanila programs as well as modified XJDE/ZJDE programs (data selection/ version overrides and such). We also have created new versions of base and custom programs. I was reading the Word_To_9 CNCN upgrade notes and makes me even more confused. A good reply would be greatly appreciated.

I did this exact upgrade (ERP 8 to 9.0) for a client earlier this year.

Most of their versions came across OK. Versions that had overrides were problematic. Some worked; some didn't. Don't expect any version named XJDE to come across. The R98700 Spec Merge program completely ignores anything starting with those letters.

If you flag your modified objects to merge (check with Spec Merge Selection in GH9611), the Spec Merge program does a pretty good job of bringing your modifications across. If you modified base objects, though, check the results thoroughly.
