Finally! After years of reading this site=2C a Payroll question! Whooo!
IMHO:
1. the best answer lies in the level of satisfaction your has with the JDE Payroll. If this is working well=2C it ain't broke so don't fix it. Said another way=2C better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.2. another consideration is the level of effort today vs. the expected level with ADP. Mgt always thinks that ADP does everything=2C but again=2C IMHO =2C the JDE staff does all the hard work and ADP calc Gross to Net and prin ts the checks/adives. Easy stuff. You still have to input all the payroll type maintenance into JDE (name/addr/pay rate/job/etc) to be extracted int o ADP. You must balance every payroll and tax report because errors are yo ur concern ultimately. The level of savings is small especially if your st aff is small to begin with.
Reducing staff by a quarter of a person is painful for the person to be cut into quarters.
Yeah=2C I know what my English teacher said about prepositions at the end o f a sentence=2C but I approve of what Winston Churchill said!
3. There are several 'what if's' to be considered=2C 'what if it snows and the checks cannot be delivered' (oh=2C your offices are next door to ADP i n Hawaii) or 'what if the new CEO (Mr. Maguire) wants a special run for pay roll this St Patricks Day=2C (March 17) and decides this on the Ides of Mar ch' (look for a new job=2C fast?). Unlikely=2C you say=3B well=2C I'm from Savannah=2C GA and anything is likely on March 17!
4. I would want to know a lot more as to the inability of the company to f ind=2C train=2C and retain payroll specialists before venturing into moving any payroll to any new service. Payroll is just not that hard to run.
IMHO=2C

Subject: Replacing JDE payroll with ADP .. Thoughts?Poster: hscheperPosted on: 10/29/08 12:25 PM (139487)requesting some thoughts on the following.... We currently run JDE payroll and WO=2CGL=2Cetc systems. Because we are havi ng a very difficult time recruiting a payroll specialist=2C Management has decided to outsource payroll to ADP. The current thought is that time entry would continue to be done within JDE=2C nightly Time card update program t o update relevant WO and costing accounts would continue as well. After pay roll cutoff=2C we would transmit timecards to ADP for further processing. H owever=2C we currently run hours reports for managers against the F0618 tab le. Is it possible to run the JDE payroll thru to final update without crea ting GL entries=2C but still updating the F0618 table?Is this a totally ins ane project?Your thoughts are appreciated!!Harry.PS: I'm an IT guy not payr oll so don't get payroll technical on me!!
