Please help me to install combo of JDE (E1 9.0). if any clarifications required. please revert back.

1. From where can i find the setup for combo installation of JDE E1 9.0? is it seprate setup for dep, ent, db, web...etc? can anyone send me the full process of combo jde (E1 9.0) installation?

2. Currently, my laptop is equipped with windows 7(Home basic). If it is required, i can advance my windows 7 to professional or ultimate? or i need to install XP or lower version of windows? Please clarify regarding the system requirement also.

When Bruno made the comment of installing a combo machine, what he meant was to use VMWare Player to create a fully functioning E1 installation on separate virtual machines: 1 Deployment Server, 1 Enterprise Server, and 1 JAS Server. I believe VMWare Player will run on Windows 7 Home Basic, so you shouldn't have to change that.

But you, or somebody with the appropriate installation skills, will need to have access to Windows Server OS, a supported database, the installation CDs for the E1 servers, other OS CDs (if you are using Linux or something else for your Enterprise and JAS Servers), and enough RAM to run them all on your laptop (I would suggest 4 GB or more).

The installation manuals are included with the CD downloads.

And yes, this is usually CNC work.

I'ts realy not what I mean;

It's possible to install All JDE components on a single virtual machine, this avoid resource usage for vm os guest.

Hi Ray,
you need to follow the standard installation process for all the components just some special step to avoid conflicts.

First of all plan your architecture, then check the requirements, download the software and follow the installation guide.
Of course you need to be sure that all components meets the requirements of the only OS used, i done this on win2003 with an old release (E812 - 8.97) and on win2000 (XE).

So start with this and ask for doubts about your choice.

I suggest to go on oracle db for JDE and msde for dep.

So go on my oracle support, find the certification matrix and get the software from e delivery.

Download the installation guide (for win plattform).

When you are ready to start select just one pathcode and install the software.

Some tips:
configure VM network as host only mode
do not configure services in autostart mode (ent - web server - db).

Best regards.

I stopped doing this sort of thing on my lab systems after 8.11. There were too many weird conflicts with communication on the port that services uses. A combo machine must look really interesting inside Server Manager ...

This does not really change the RAM requirements though. I would still say you should have at least 4 GB.

Hi Bruno,

Thanks for all the support and guidence.....!!!

I am explaining my current status. Please guide me what should i take next step?

Currently, my Laptop is equipped with Windows 7 (Home Basic) with 3GB memory. I have standalone of E1 8.12 installed on Windows 2000 on VMware player.

i am in delima, that can i install the XP on same VMware player along with Windows 2000. Can you guide me, How can i install XP on VMware player. so i can install E1 9.0 on XP. or do you have any alternate method for getting all the installation done.

I am following your suggestion, but please help me to overcome initial step.

Raj,
I'm confusing;
you want to install JDE 9.0 demo or JDE full install in combo mode?

If youw ant to go on JDE 9.0 demo it's ok, you need download the software from e-delivery, plus sql sever driver from microsoft plus jdk from oracle, then you need to crate a new Virtual Machine and install win xp and the jde (I can send you the template for the Virtual Machine but you need to install xp and jde).

If you want to install the full JDE 9.0 in combo mode or using a couple of dfferent virtual machine for different software component follow what I previus saied.

Let me know.

p.s. the second choice require different day (or week for the first time) of work so evaluate what you need, for the rest I think on the List you can find all the help you need.

Bye.

Remember, the original intent was to be able to run XML Publisher. For this, he cannot run StandAlone, and must install a full working set of E1 servers.

Raj, you will need to use VMWare Player to create another virtual machine. You will need to install either Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 as the OS for this new VM because Windows 2000 is not supported. Technically, Windows 2003 is also not supported these days, but it was when 9.0 first came out. You cannot say that about Windows 2000.

For a very minimal installation, you might get away with using 2 GB of RAM on the new virtual machine. However, don't expect great performance. I think it will be very slow unless you can add more memory to the effort.
