Change UDC 01 01 size ok?

Hi,

I've changed the size of UDC 01, 01 as we intend to use category code 01 for some alternative data. We never used cat 01, and all other cats are used. As we need this data to flow to the A/R is looks as if I must use cat 1 - 10 only.

Some posts I've seen said don't change these sizes of these fields, but what is the impact of doing this, as this cat was never in use at this site?

The fields is currently 3, I intend to reduce this to 2, so there should be no database changes. Perhaps I should just load the UDC from the 3rd paty application so it looks correcltly formatted at 3 long, as currently is got a leading space, unless the length changes to 2.

Thanks Bob,

I had a preceeding blank as the external app right justified the values, then relied on the the JDE softcoding to extract the right length for UDC maintenance.

I will ensure the last char is left blank from the other application to maintain the length of 3.
