This question is for the folks who have gone through the 8.10 upgrade...

How long did it take to upgrade one environment, convert data, etc...?

I am trying to get a feel for the timing.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

It would really depend on the size of your implementation including

- No of customizations
- Size of Business Data
- No of Modules used.
- Hardware configurations / platforms

Let me try give you an approximate time frame

1. Pre-Upgrade activties including setting your sepc merge flags , refreshing business data , versions, convert Menus to Solution Explorer Tasks etc etc - . (again depends how good your documentation is of your customized objects etc) -- 3-4 days

2. Upgrade Activities -

Install Deployment Server, Load databases and run
scripts - 1 day

Create upgrade plan & execute + Enterprise Server Install - 2 Days

Post upgrade tasks + Package Build - 1 Day

This includes some buffer time for troubleshooting.

So my guess is anywhere between 5-8 days to upgrade the first enviorment.

I am assuming that you want to do this for a Windows - SQL Enviornment

Keep in mind that that all testing etc would start after this and I have not taken into account testing

Dave,

You may also need to take in consideration of,
- Unicode data conversion for Business Data and Control Tables, which do not include in the upgrade planner. I have done a upgrade of 30GB Production Data that take about 1 day.
- Retrofitting for all modified objects
