Hi, does anyone have Websphere App Server and Deployment Manager installed on the same machine? If so what is the best order for the install? I have installed App Server, then Enterprise on top of it, then Deployment Manager which goes into a different directory but the dmgr service uses the same port as the App Server server1 service, so they cant both run at the same time? Should they? Thanks in advance for any help.

Sounds like you did it correctly. The general order when putting everything on the same box is WAS, Enterprise, ND. And you are correct in noting that server1 and dmgr can not run simultaneously...on a box that has both, you will want to run dmgr only. Any other boxes will have just WAS+ENT, and will be managed from the dmgr box.

I agree with that last guy, he sounds really smart. But another item...just so you know, ND is NOT required if you aren't going to utilize it's features such as creating nodes, clusters, load balancing, etc.. E1 JAS will run just fine without ND on the box.

If you are using Windows 2003 Servers, you should consider just using Network Load Balancing that is built into the OS.
