We are currently on V5R1 release of the 400 software. We are on JDEdwards
7.3 cum 11 release and our security is business unit based.

We have been experiencing problems with World Writer ever since we upgraded
the 400 software. Are any of you set up like the above and have experienced
World Writers coming out with no data or running terminally?

Thanks,
Julie Sisson

We are not cum11 but we are having some serious response time problems
with our WW ever since we upgraded to v5r1. The only relief we have
found at this point is so go back over some of our longer running WWs
and change the order of the files on joins. One WW, for example,
increased from 1 hour to 10 hours of run time. There were 4 files in
the join. We changed the WW so that the smallest file was the primary
file and the run time went back to about 1 hour.

When did you install v5r1? I know that there were a lot of performance
issues fairly early. Most of those problems have been fixed within the last
few months.
Are your operators keeping your machine up to snuff with the latest cumms
and hipers? There's been a LOT of hipers on V5R1.

I had a problem with some queries (dump with CPF4204) which is what World Writer is built over. IBM said that everytime you upgrade the operating system, files are updated/converted, and sometimes some of the files do not get converted. There were 3 ways to force this conversion: 1) Execute the OPNDBF then CLOF commands on the files that had the error 2) or you can run their STROBJCVN command, 3) or you can apply some PTF's SI02891/SI02791.

My problem was fixed after doing 1). However I also applied the PTF's for insurance.

We just installed v5r1 about a month ago. We even had some IBM guys in
here for about a week because of the problems we were having - they even
had to build a special fix for us. With all that was transpiring, I
have every reason to believe we have the latest hipers, etc. I think we
also have an IBM system guy here to fill in on our sys engineer team for
a few months.

What is the machine's model and type please! I just received the V5R1
software I ordered and was ready to upgrade in the next month or so. We're
using a 9406 S20. Are you guys running some other software as well that
caused the problem?
