Visual Event Rule Compare Question

We are getting ready to apply ESU JD13345. After looking at the tool,
my understanding of the VERC tool is it will only compare like names for
an object and it pulls the name automatically. What we want to do is
compare the base object|version (R43500|XJDE003) which was modified by
the ESU and has the changes to a custom version (that has overrides) we
created (R43500|CUSTOM1). Is there anyway to do this? If we go into
the project and click on the custom version and then go into VERC we are
prompted to select a source but there is no way to change the
object|version name to R43500|XJDE003. Thanks, gm.

MagarG,

Versions are typically only changes in Processing Options or Data Selection. Which is why you can not select a version to compare it to. If I understand this right, when you click on VERC from within the version design tool, you are actually bringing up the code for the base report. You would be better off just looking at those settings manually if possible. Also, if you notice, the ESU you mentioned does not list any version changes for the R43500.

I hope this helps.

I've only been able to compare the same version or template using the VERC. The way I compare different versions or versions to the template is to dump the ER code to a text file and use windiff.

Thanks, most of our versions do not have ER changes but a couple do so I
was trying to find a way. After talking with JDE and seeing another
post here, looks like dumping the ER to a text file and using windiff or
something is the way. gm.
