Hi,

We are running Oneworld B73.3 with SP10.1 on a UNIX server.

Now we want to upgrade the service pack to SP17_003(I think this is right
one for B7.3) but I really need to know if someone have any experience
regarding this upgrade???
I read something about "Planner ESU - JD12860" on the knowledge Garden, is
this something I must apply before I do the upgrade?

So please, if someone have necessary information about this upgrade please
inform us about'it!

Regards,
kenneth

One issue you will have that may not seem obvious, is that if you use Optio Positive Pay and Check Printing, when you upgrade, you will have to remap your OW check pdf.

One of the included sp's(I think it is 13) changes the pdf engine to use the native Adobe engine. This will cause a minor change in the pdf output, which will cause the document not to purge into the Optio dbase.

JDELIST22,

I would suggest checking the Update Center on the Knowledge Garden. SP17 (your base for SP17_03) is for B733.1, B733.2, and XE. There is also good information on the main Update Center page regarding choosing your Service Pack and deciding on One-Off's.

Also, JD12860 is a planner ESU that has recently replaced JD12475. This updates your JDEPLAN environment on your deployment server. It will be required to apply ESU's that were developed after October 15th or so to all of your other environments not local to the deployment server.

Good Luck!

OneWorld XE; Update2; SP15.1

TSE's: Win2k(SP2) & NT4.0(SP6a) with Metaframe 1.8

With regards to Optio,

From SP13 and above Oneworld by default now uses Adobe Type Librarys as
opposed to internal type libraries. So releases of Optio DCS prior to 6.3,
could not parse the pdf due to this ( This is dictated by the input channel
specifying CONTENT "JDE". However, you can add an INI file entry to the
server (and clients also, depending on Run location) to force the UBE engine
to use the internal type libraries. This entry should be under [UBE] and is
UBEUseAdobe=0. On the other hand, you could upgrade DCS to the latest
version which is compatable with PDFs created using Adobe TFs, dictated by
CONTENT "PDF". You will probably have to remap your docs as there is a
slight "shift" in output. If you need double-byte language support for OPtio
you will Optio DCS v 7.5 or above, if not use version 6.3 or higher.

In reagrds to the change in adobe, beware of any 3rd party apps you might use for document management. Upgrading to SP15 disabled our check writing software for a while because it couldn't read the new version of PDF. Luckily, we had a fat client that had pre-SP15 objs and specs, so we were able to continue production until the manufacturer got a new version of the SW written.
