We are facing well know issue with JDE and that is that a hard commit is against a lot and location. Therefore, if we need to transfer a lot of material from it's storage location in the warehouse to a production suite prior to issuing it to a workorder, then the commitment remains with it's original warehouse location.
We are in a pharmaceutical (FDA Validated) environment and this issue means that another work order could be "grab" our lot since it is no longer committed at the lot and LOCATION level.
Now, we know that we can hard commit the lot from the work order parts list but if we transfer it, the commitment is lost. We also know that we can issue from the warehouse locations but there are legitimate reasons why, at times, neither of these methods work here. Ideally what we are looking for is the inventory transfer program to move the commitment in the F41021 and update the location in the parts list F3111 at the same time. We are using DSI - DC-Link and in a strictly lot controlled environment where storage (warehouse) and production (issue) locations are sometimes a significant distance apart and in a few cases are both controlled by an automated cranes. Does anyone have any suggestions, whether it be software, modification or process in nature that may help.
Thanks in advance for your response.
