SQL Server versus Oracle performance

I'm interested in any JD Edwards customers that have moved from a SQL Server database (e.g SQL 2008 R2 enterprise edition to an Oracle one (e.g. Oracle database 11gr2 standard edition)). If possible it would be good to compare with similar hardware, so it's "like for like". (e.g Intel hardware with Windows/SQL 2008R2 and Oracle/Red Hat Linux/Oracle11gr2)

One issue that has been brought up (although we knew about) is the fact that Oracle database is case sensitive out of the box (and Oracle don't officially support changing this with JDE), however we're interested in any other issues (or even improvements) that customers have discovered when moving from a SQL Server based system to an Oracle one:

I'd be interested in the following:

What performance issues they've experienced (if any)
Were there any noticeable performance benefits when moving from SQL to Oracle?
What other issues or benefits did you discover when moving from SQL to an Oracle database?
Thanks,

Hi,

An efficient DB requires a highly-skilled DBA behind.

The best DB in the world (whatever it is) will suck if
it's not maintained, tuned and configured by properly
trained and experienced people.

Yes, thanks, I guess this is assumed but what makes it difficult to analyse sometimes as it's not always like for like (you assume best practices have been followed for both databases).Thanks.
