Server name change

We have been tasked with a corporate initiative to changes our machine naming standards. This means we have to change the names of our OneWorld(OW) Enterprise Server(ES) and Deployment Server(DS). I'm sure this is easy, right :p I have no problem uninstalling and reinstalling our client machines to accept name changes. It's the servers I'm concerned about. Our ES is AS400 with Central Objects in Oracle on the DS.

-What OneWorld limitations are there to machine names? The corp std is 15 characters. (There used to be a OW limitation on the AS400 name).
-Besides CNC data and jde.ini, what other 'locations' do I need to make changes to?
-I've seen threads here where others have swapped out DS's. Have all of these been to another DS given the same machine name as the old?
-Any experience and wisdom would be most welcome.

Thanx much

btw: I called GCS and they said I have to refer to our Client Manager for consulting. I'm hoping to hear if someone has tried anything like this yet before I say yes.

Doug :

It's neither easy nor secure to change server machine names on OneWorld.
JDE hardcodes them on lots of tables and .INF files.
Almost every System table (sysb733,objb733,svmb733) includes some kind
of reference to Machine Names.
And there are dozens of .INF and .INI files that specify Machine Names
too (take a look into both Deployment and Enterprise pathcodes),
ODBCDATA.INF, etc. Every OneWorld *.INF and .INI file is potentially
suspect to include a machine name constant.
The OW machine name limit that I recommend is 10 characters, avoiding
underline (_) and minus (-) characters.
I've seen an incoherent design of machine name fields, some of them
have 10 characters, others have 14 (?)

We did something similar to set up an isolated test environment. Note
however that we are on B7321SP12.2, so your mileage may vary.

Here are some places we identified:
INI files on clients and servers
F98611
F986111
F986101
F00945
F00942
F00960
F9883
host name on servers
host file on ds and host table on AS/400
ODBCDataSource.inf on ds
Create new data sources in table GH9011
If using Oracle, change TNSNAMES.ORA file on clients
pkgname.inf file on ds

I think that's all we identified. If you want the name of the consultant
who helped us out, e-mail me off-list.
