Refreshing a Test System

Does anyone have two AS/400's, one that is production and one that is test/development? If so how are you refreshing the test/development AS/400 with production data -- save and restore, ddm files, other?

Thank you,
Jim

Jim,

Perhaps a FTP transfer might be a fast way to transfer the files in order to refresh.

If you any doubts, just let me know.

Jim,

I have a client on World A7.3 using two AS400s - one box for test and the other for production. They use Aldon to do their refreshes between the two AS400 boxes and it seems to work well.

Jim,

We have two AS/400s, where one is a production environment and the other is used for development and testing. We restore our production database to our test system on a regular basis from a weekend backup tape. Our production database is 120 GB, so the whole process occurs during the weekend.

Jim,
We have two AS/400's here at White-Rodgers. Production is on one
machine. On the Development/testing/Mirrored machine, we have several
environments. One is a setup environment, used for testing and turnover
promotions. We have a Production AS OF environment, that is production as
of 2200 the previous day. We also have a development environment. On a
daily basis, we back up Production from a mirrored copy on the second AS/400
to a save file. We then restore from the save file to the AS OF libraries.
We have a process (did not program it, so would have to look it up) to on
occasion refresh the other development environments from Production, but not
having the full F0911 file and other big files out there. But again we have
mirrored production to the second AS/400, which probably makes things easier
than if that is not the case.
