Recursive Versions

Recursive Version - same version can be called multiple times.
It saves the individual call for data selection and sorting...its set from diff menu.
Question - how to set up a recursive version?
Kindly help.

Go to G81 and take Option 14.
Enter the program id in the code or key and a description and update the
UDC table.

Re: RE: Recursive Versions

Adding a program into the UDC table will have it function as a recursive version but the CL may not be coded to cleanup the copied version at program end. Depending on how many times a program is run, that may eventually cause a problem when copied DW versions begin to be copied. It probably will only cause a problem with the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd report headings possibly being from another version. We had seen that happen on a couple of recursive versions because the version information was being copied to a version that had been copied before and the CL hadn't removed the first copy.
Yes you can and probably should occasionally run the Recursive Version Global Delete (G81/15) when you setup and use a lot of recursive version programs.
