Printing Hierarchy change

Our organisation has recently gone live on an upgrade from ERP 8 to version 9. One of the areas we revisited was the printing of documents. We set up a default printer for each user and turned print immediate on. Some documents however need to be directed to specific printers and/or to our Create!Form server. Others we never want to print and these UBEs are set up to go to printer ‘NULL’.

According to the Oracle documentation we found the Hierarchy used to determine the printer is by specific user / specific report first, then by all users (*Public) / specific report and only then by user/any report.
However in reality the hierarchy is the other way around. If user A with default printer X prints a UBE which is set up to be printed to printer Y, the output will go to printer X.
Oracle has acknowledged their documentation is incorrect. But this does not help us as we prefer the hierarchy to look at UBE first and user second (which from a business perspective makes much more sense)

Has any other organisation tackled this issue? Can this sequence be modified (the logic looks to be included in a standard API)? We don’t really want to go down the path of defining every UBE for every user, nor send every UBE to Create!Stream.

Hi Sef,

Did you get to the bottom of this issue?

Looks like we may have the same problem - the printer specified in the version is being overriden by the user's default printer.

Thanks,

Tim.
