E9.1 Print Message with Variable

Hi, I want to set up a print message to print on a document but embedded I want the Document Number and the Date. Do I use Text for Document Number &1 and the date is &2.

How does &1 and &2 get substituted - is it done in the development? Is this functionality even in the Print Message?
