Parallel service packs

Does anyone has created a multiple foundation for testing parallel service packs on two enterprise servers. I have two enterprise servers, one for production ( PD7333 ) and they other is a development server ( DV7333, PY7333 ). On the production enterprise server I have the service pack 15.1 and I want to install the service 17.1 on my development server. I’ve past true the “Multiple Oneworld Foundation Installation Guide” but the only things I’m not sure it’s if I have to change the “port” and the “startIPCKeyValue” values in the jde.ini on the development server? I’m not sure if I can use the same port number on a different server with a different service pack.

Anyone have a idea?

Thanks!

Allardy :

I've tried them on B7332 with SP11.3 and SP15.1
I haven't done the exact path suggested by Denver but it worked anyway.
What I've done was :

a) Install a development B7332 workstation with the same C++, MDAC, SQL,
IE, Adobe of the Deployment, and a full package of every environment
used by regular users.
b) Backup OneWorld Client Install, System and SystemComp on the Deployment
c) Backup (JDE) System on both Enterprise servers.
d) Install SP 15.1 on the Deployment.
e) Install SP 15.1 on the Enterprise-DEV.
f) Leave Enterprise-PRD at SP 11.3.
g) My production users were left with their SP 11.3 packages and running
their PRD733 UBEs on Enterprise-PRD.
h) Install a second development B7332 workstation with the same C++, MDAC,
SQL, Adobe of Deployment.
i) From the Deployment, build full SP 15.1 packages for all
environments and install them on the EnterpriseDEV and second workstation.
j) At that point, users run locally with SP 11.3 and on a server with
SP 11.3 too; while your developers have SP 15.1 on their workstation
and run UBEs on a SP 15.1 server.
k) When developers realized that SP 15.1 was fine, we installed SP 15.1
on the Production Server, build a full client-server package a installed
it everywhere.

Re: RE: Parallel service packs

Thanks Sebastian, I have two questions for you, does your Enterprise-PRD and your Enterprise-DEV having the same port number? Does your developers has able to access your Enterprise-PRD and your Enterprise-DEV from the same workstation without doing snapshoot trick?

Thanks!
