JDE PDF Printing Issue, JDE vs. Adobe

Hi All,
Need some input as to resolving an operational pain. We have some huge Quarterly Reorder Program that requires the printing of lots of paper. JDE and iSeries spoolers never get through a large batch without failing. JDE doesn't give us an option to print from a certain page so consequently it starts from the beginning resulting in a lot of wasted paper and more importantly, TIME. If we attempt to print the PDF directly it is not in the proper Font size or Type and doesn't fit the form. Can the Print From Page be enabled or does anyone know the Default font size and Type that JDE uses so we can modify the PDF with Adobe and get that to match before attempting the reprint within Adobe. Oooor if someone has a different approach, please jump in.

Any chance of changing the program so it isn't such a tree killer?

Use Create!form or a similar tool to reorganize how the output is printed.

Hi;

What if you send the job to an OUTQ on the iSeries that does not have an
active print writer. Then, you could change the job using option 2 on
the wrkoutq screen so that the 'sav' parameter is *yes. Then move the
job to the OUTQ with a writer and let the printing begin. If it crashes
or whatever is happening, then the job will still be in the OUTQ
afterwards. Then use option 2 again, press F10 to get to additional
parameters and page down once. On that screen you will see the
'starting page' and 'ending page' parameters. Just set the job to print
again with the starting page set to the page after the last one that
printed before. Or you could print the job in seqments in the first
place.

Hope this helps.

On the Reader's 'Print" dialog, in the "page handling" section, switch from "Fit to paper" and set it instead to "None" and then reader won't change the layout of the page by shrinking it.

Not likely, this is basically a sales and marketing piece that each
piece of paper(s) is mailed to a customer for use as a Reorder
'Suggestion'. Trees, what trees....

We are NEW users of Create!form and this is certainly something we're
looking at but won't help us this quarter or even the next one in all
likelihood. I like your thinking though. Thanks

Seg,
thank you for your suggestion. This will work as our stop gap till this function can be moved into Create!form. Works like a charm. If any newcomers were wondering, Yep this forum works....most days, thanks everyone. Larry, this won't save any trees but we'll abuse fewer now...
