IBM V5R2 upgrade impacts on JDE

We are upgrading from V4R5 to V5R2 and are at JDE Version A7.2 cum 9. I
have a couple of questions:
* If you have upgraded to V5R2 and you are at version A7.2 or A7.3 did
you experience any issues after the upgrade?
* If you have upgraded to V5R2 did you need to apply any specific IBM
PTFs or JDE SARs? If so which ones?
* What is the difference between Single Byte and Double Byte in JDE?
Is double byte only used if you have foreign languages?

Any help is appreciated....
Thanks

Take a look at the JDE Knowledge Garden, select Knowledge and SAR's, Search
argument 'V5R2'. You may also want to give JDE Support a call.

After you find the main document on the Knowledge Garden on V5R2, you may need to apply SAR# 6166896 for world writer as we do. There was a change to one of the fields on an IBM file with V5R2 that required this. World writers will not run without it. There is a long list of special instructions that go with it, so heads up. We've prepared for it but haven't applied it just yet. Is there anyone else out there that has already implemented that could share their experience?

Anyone actually done this yet and know what it takes? My company discontinued our jde support contract so we cannot call them for updates.

There are a couple of system files that were changed by IBM that JDE uses. your World Writer will not work unless you re-compile JDE code. I think JDE only packages for the compiled object for WW so might want to look into that.

We recently went to V5R2 running World 7.3. Cum13 AS400 model 810
We had no problems except WW.!
All current WW do work. You can change the data selection parameter etc.
However, as soon as you want to modify one by adding a field , then it
joblogs. You cannot create new WW.!
You have to get a fix from JDE and they will not help you if you are not on
maintenance.

On the knowledge Garden document WST-02-0017 references the JDE requirements for V5R2 upgrade. We have Bronze support which only gives us access to the KG. This is the only document I found referencing V5R2. If you don't have KG access contact your Acct. Rep and have him get the document for you.

We are scheduled to upgrade the weekend of 11/8/03.

There is a Multi SAR for WW that needs to be applied prior to going to V5R2 that fixes these issues. It is referenced in the document
WST-02-0017. It took me about 1.5 hours to put in on a Sunday, it requires no users on the JDE system as it updates the license manager and requires that it be reinitialized.

We went from 4.4 to 5.1 have not "had" to do the upgrade, but did them anyway. It takes a little while to change everything that needs to be changed. Have you noticed anything else on your version change. When we went to 5.1 I have noticed that the system ran very slow at times,,, applying the latest CUM PTFs seemed to help, but still at times,,, it seesm mired in molass in January.

We have already upgraded to V5R2 over Labor Day weekend, and updated JDE
per the previously mentioned knowledge document. We have had no issues
whatsoever.

IBM made changes to its Query Manager, this effected WW and AS/400 Queries. We had several instances where run times on WW's
more than doubled. We had to create logical files in the key sequence used by the WW to improve performance. IBM's Query Manager doesn't seem to be 100% perfected as of yet.
