ESU, Update release, SP

Is there any one to clear my concern as follows?

What is the use of ESU? Is it the same as SAR? The ESU is mentioned along with Update release and SP release. Does these term share sth in common? To my knowledge, Update release, say Update 6, will consolidate all fixes to bugs as of the date released without new functions added. What is Baseline as well?

honggao66,
1 - ESU is a collection of SARs
2 - Updates & SPs include some ESUs
3 - Baseline ESUs is a pre-requisite; you need it if you want to apply OTHER ESUs
4 - You may find a lot of about SARs/ESUs/ASUs/ ... on the Knowledge Garden.
Warm regards,

Hi,
-ESU (Electronic Software Update) is a way for JDEdwards to deliver the
fixes to clients but ESU fixes multiple sars i.e. One ESU could have more
than one SAR.
-ESU could depend on a Service Pack (this is highly unlikely but it could
happen).
-Update 6 or any update could be taken as all ESU within certain time
period.
-Baseline is an ESU snapshot in time. Lets say the sales ESU grows in size.
JDE will baseline the ESU so that they are not delivering large ESUs.
Hope this clears something. Let me know if you have any other questions
Thanks

Re: RE: ESU, Update release, SP

Hi, Sumsoftware,

Thanks for your insight and it is education to me. Seems the Update is the collection of ECU and/or fixes.

Currently, I know my client has Update 6, but without knowledge of SP release. Should I know the SP release as well and what is the implication toward implementation?

Secondly, can you give me some tips on how to identify the possible system bugs, in stead of testing own configuration again and agin, and how to correspond JDE support for ESUs. Further, what is the latest ESU/Update release available at this time?

Thank you very much in advance
