EDI Interface with World purchasing

Hello - we are running World A7.3. I am interested in getting started with EDI, specifically to start with 856's (ASN) I was looking for input from people who might have done this. I need to use lot numbers as well. It's possible I am starting at the wrong place, (maybe I should be starting with p.o.'s, ) but I don't know lot numbers until I get the ASN, which is currently just faxed to me. I was looking for experience with vendors who know JDE, so I don't reinvent the wheel. I have also heard that maybe I should be doing receipts routing, but frankly I don't quite understand what I know about it.

Thanks in advance

You are starting with what is probably the most difficult document in the
EDI world! If you can get your feet wet on P.O.s or invoices you should
start there and then move into ASNs. I haven't done them in JDE, but I
have done them, and they are not easy.

Hi David I have set up a couple of clients on World with ASNs... are you
doing inbound Purchase Orders and Outbound invoices as well with your
customers? Is UCC128 necessary? thanks, Bobby

Thanks in advance

David, I have worked with ASN's (outbound) using Sterling software (formerly Gentran). We were able to both capture and generate inbound and outbound items. It required some data mapping to input into the JDE Z tables, but worked out very well. As for using lot numbers, the only restriction is the field size in the inbound table. You will also need to check your distribution constants to make sure lot processing is set correctly(duplicate check, no check) for your operations. This is crucial when processing inbound transactions.

I am also interested in retail EDI, like catalog and store sales. Has anyone done this in JDE?

I have done a few things with clients with Wal-mart and Kmart such as vendor
managed inventory for Kmart... and "normal" vendor sales for both... is
there something in particular you want to know?
