Different GUI displays for PROD and Test

Is there a way to have GUI display differently for different environments?

I toggle between our test environment and production environment frequently and it would be nice if there was a way to have unique displays (i.e. different fonts or colors) for each environment.

If you are using Client Access or a similar tool, you can sign on to two different sessions with different colors.

You have to "own" the Seagull developer kit for either J Walk or GUI/400
depending on what you are using. What I did was create a subwindow on the
menu panel (#3564 in cum 13) so that there are two sets of push buttons and
texts for options 1-24. One is normal grey, the other a much darker grey
with white foreground. Since our naming conventions for environments
always requires PROD to be included in production, it was easy to set the
visibilty of the subwindows based on that partial comparison. End result
is that Production looks normal, Non-Production has the darker grey
background.

Unfortunately, it is way too much work to have this on every panel. Users
agreed that having it at the menu level was sufficient.

Neal

Whether GUI or not, we changed the name of our Company 000 so all reports
will show up differently. We also have a different set of Menus (it may
help!).

Just suggestions. There is not much you can do easily within the
applications other that preach .. JUST KNOW .. <g>

In World software wee use a different colour palette selection for our live and test environments (as per JDE System Values screen - menu G94 option 14) . The live environment is set to option 2 JDE and the test environment is set to 1 SAA. This helps us identify which system we are working in.
