Data Structure - Named Mapping

Hello all,
Today from pure curiosity I've pressed the "Named Mapping" button when designing a Data Structure, and I don't know what it does. I've searched the 'Data Structure Design Guide' and Oracle support, and did not find a document containing these key words. Anyone know what that does, or knows the location of some documentation ?
