tracking Inventory across routing steps

I would like to know if anyone has experience or can point me in the direction of some software that will allow me to track the quantity of inventory across a router?

For example if I have a router:

10 Bend
20 Drill
30 Weld
40 Chrome plate

Each of these different operations may have inventory in each step.

So the question is one of two:

1. Can I do this inside of JDE as it currently is?
2. Is there software that will do this for me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Q1. Can I do this inside of JDE as it currently is?

A1: Depends on how you use JDE. You need:
- Accurate Routings
- Standard BOMs that reference Routing Steps
- Accurate Work Order parts Lists (inherited from Std BOM)

A2: Assuming the above, the Work Order parts List table (F3111) can be used to report what inventory was issued to each step / workcenter.

If instead you are attempting to keep track of what steps in the Manufacturing Process have completed that can be done also.

FYI - a router is
1. A power tool with a shaped cutter, used in carpentry for making grooves.
2. A device that forwards data packets to parts of a computer network
