8.98.1 vs. 8.98.4

Hi. We are on Windows 2003. CNC has told me that we can upgrade to 8.98.1, but not 8.98.4 because of OS level.

I've heard through the grapevine that the drag and drop of the columns don't work until 8.98.4. Is this true? The reason why we're upgrading is to get the drag and drop functionality.

Should we do an OS upgrade then upgrade to 8.98.4 rather than upgrade to 8.98.1?

If you can, I'd push to upgrade your OS to Win 2008 (or Win 2008 R2), as Win 2003 is no longer supported. The drag and drop of columns came out with TR 8.98.3, and is SWEET!

Just about all the customer sites that I've talked to who are going to 8.98.4.x are still on Windows 2003 R2 and have had no issues to report of it. We are also going to 8.98.4.2 and our web servers are still running Windows 2003 R2 and we have experienced the same. It will probably be about another year until we move to Windows 2008 R2.

You can use multi-tiers foundation functionnality and have your DEV path updated to latest (8.9.8.4.2) tools release while having the other paths running the previous version.

Check MTR on oracle support : you may need OS/SGBD upgrade regarding targeted tools & concerned workstation.
