We have a need to put payroll detail in our system but because of security and who can see what they decided it was more secure to have our own customized file. Has anyone had any success with defining a call out from the regular GL transaction screen and then opening your own custom window to view the detail. See attached word document diagram. Our Payroll system is on another appln so we cannot call out to it so we are dumping the detail info to a custom oracle table and thinking of writing our own view to look at this data. Reasoning behind our logic was that it was easier to secure who has access to the call out to view this data in the custom DB table. Has anyone had success with the following?
1) Writing a callout to open a window in another appln from OW ERP 8.0
2) Adding a callout button on the GL Transaction detail screen to view Payroll detail.
Would be very interested in contacting someone out there who has done this to give us some valuable input. Our preferred method is option 1 but if that does not work then option 2.
