World A7.3 Cume13 Item Master

When trying to add a new part in the Item Master it will not accept unless you place data in the Print Message field. We have never used this field and I need to figure out why it wants it now. If you try to change an old part it wants this field as well. I have checked thru all the manuals I have and can not find out where this change was made. Thanks in advance for all help!!

Sounds like someone has changed the program code and/or the display file
for that maintenance program. What is the exact message you are
getting? Is it an IBM message or a JDE message.

0027 User Defined Code Error



CAUSE . . . . The entered code was not found in the User Defined Codes.



RESOLUTION. . Enter a valid code or place the cursor in the field in
error
and press 'F1' to display the valid values for the field.






Once they populate all the fields that we use and hit enter the Print
Message field goes in error. When you hit F7 this is the message. We do
have some UDC codes set in the table but have never used them in Item
Master before. I went into our test environment and of course do not
have the problem there. I appreciate in help you can think of.

We are only on cume11 so can't be sure it is the same but it may be possible the the Print Message field, although not a UDC table, may need an "empty" Print Message value in the table so that blank is valid. Like UDC's act if they don't have a blank entry in their table? Can't hurt to add it...

Thanks!! Compared test to prod and test had a blank entry in the UDC 40/PM table. Now I have to lock engineering out of that. Thanks again!!
