Word Search Build (R01BDWRD)

I am looking for some statistics regarding this application, R01BDWRD. We are looking to implement Word Search but are concerned about how long the program might run and how large a file is created. We currently have approximately 29,000 records in F0101, F0116, F0115 and F01151 and approximately 53,000 in F0111. I am not sure what all is involved in generating the search file, so any insight would be appreciated.

Our Address Book runs around 165,000 records and the Who's Who is around 203,000. The Word Build (J01BDWRD) averages between 5 and 10 minutes depending on time of day and the system activity level. We're currently running on an iSeries M50 with about 2 terabytes of storage.

Because this is disk I/O intensive, your mileage may vary ;-)

Menu G0131 option 16 (J01BDWRD ) is your first-time build. Read the
Help Help 16

Menu G0131 option 17 (J01820 ) is what you run daily after that.

See menu G0141 option 22 "Word Search Stop Words" UDC 01/ST is the list
of words you want to omit from the Build.



Your Word Search build at menu G0131 option 16 might complete in as
little as a couple minutes, depending on your circumstances.

Build it and measure the time.

Thanks Eric & Terry. Yes, I would prefer to run the build and measure the time, but I am a business analyst, our developer / manager is concerned about the technical aspects including draining the system resources. I do appreciate your input and will forward on to him your very helpful suggestions.
