Hi List,
Does anyone know how, in the Rate Schedule Revision, Supersede Type field
(SRTP) works ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

We are implementing the Transportation Management system and we've already worked on this part.

Here is our 'experience' :

- 4 possibilities in the SRTP field, 'blank', '>', '<' or '1'
- Anything other than blank in this fields tells the systems to replace ALL previous rates in the sequence with this particular rate.
- If '1' no comparison is made, the replacement is effective if the rate is not equal to zéro.
- If '>' or '<', comparison is made upon the sum of all previous rates.
- You can only use the supersede function in a rate sequence entry.
- in opposition You can't use the supersede function in a rate schedule entry (N.B. in a rate schedule sequence you can call a rate or another rate schedule).
- each rate HAVE TO BE potentialy APPLICABLE, i.e. MUST have an entry, i.e. the lookup types HAVE to be setup in order to allow the system to ALWAYS find an entry and to calculate the freigth rate.
If not the rate schedule calculation will goes on error and you will have a routing error.

You will have to be tricky to imagine your rates setting up and rate schedule setting up.

ex :
Seq Rate TR Explanation
10 DIST Unit Rate based on Weight and postal code
20 DIST2 Fixed rate
30 DISTMIN > Minimum freight rate payable
40 TIMBRE Rate based on stop number

In this case we have 4 rates.
The 4th one will always be applicable.
The 3rd one DISTMIN will replace ALL rates under its sequence (DIST2 and DIST), IF its calculated value is greater than the sum of the other 2 rates.

Please share your experience with us when you are so far.

By the way do you know what is the purpose of the field RTSN in the rate setting up ?

Fred
