E9.1 Suppress MRP Messages - Any Gotchas

We have just discovered the "Suppress MRP Messages" flag in JDE. We use Kit processing exclusively so over half of our messages are not being reviewed. Oracle doesn't have much about it. We've tested it and it seems to be doing exactly what we want.

However, I'm wondering before implementing it fully (we'll have to modify like 1/2 million records) if anyone as had any challenges using this feature. Thanks in advance.

Hello, This feature is often used on scenario were message of Parent item based on Forecast should not be displayed however the component level messages ( Work order or Purchase Order) should be displayed. The Parent Item Work Order should only be generated when actual Sales Order is generated ( using line type W). This way, you will be having the components stocks as per MRP messages (based on Forecast demand of parent item) and the actual work order will be processed as per standard way.
Mostly used for MTO scenarios.

We are using Kits in kind of a unique way (one of our sacred cows is consistent customer SKU's, even though the actual inventory is different. So we forecast everything under the kit SKU and let the BOM explode to the inventory item in the branch). This helps. Thanks!

Alright.. this will work for sure for Kits process too. No challenges as such and process works well.
