Spiltting the Enterprise Server (adding a Data Server?)

Someone has suggested we spilt the Enterprise Server so that SQL is running on another server. So we would have JDE-ENT - Enterprise with OneWorld installed, and JDE-SQL with SQL installed holding the JDE Data, as servers. Data Servers are very briefly mentioned in the documentation.

It's easy to define a Data Server, but there doens't seem to be any option to create Datasources? Surely a Data Server requires Datasources.

Or is what I'm suggesting e.g. splitting SQL from the Enterprise server not possible?

You don't have to explicitly create a definition for a data server. You can just go to the Data Sources application, and manually change each data source to point to the new server name, after you have copied all the databases over and brought them up on the new server.

Don't forget to change both the System side and Server Map side.
