.so files not replaced

JDE List,

When applying a OneOff to my AIX installation my zcat command will not
replace certain .so files in my system/lib directory. The only way I have
been able to get around this is to actually delete the "problem" .so files
manually and then re-run my OneOff install.

Any ideas of how to get around this? I have even gone so far as to re-boot
my AIX server and not bring up OW and it still will not let me install
without manually deleting the .so files it is attempting to replace.

Thanks in advance for any help!

James,

thats an old AIX problem going as far back as B733.1. It used to happen during package deploy. That´s fixed now by JDE. They actually delete the .so files before copying, as you found out yourself. As you are applying manually just zcat | tar to a different location and copy manually. "cp -f" works as well . Not much else you can do.
By the way, rebooting also had worked for us.
