Showcase Strategy & V5R2

I just curious if anyone out there in the "World" is using this product with World Software, in particular on V5R2. We are in an awkward position of upgrading to V5R2 soon but we are running Showcase version 3.0 (I know it's "old") and I'm having a bad feeling that this version may not run under V5R2. And to top it off, we are no longer on maintenance with Showcase (SPSS) with the product. Anybody have any input? Anyone able to verify this with SPSS?? I'm going to try and call them but I don't think they will let me log a call... Appreciate ANYTHING. Thanks.

I do believe you are correct that 3.0 will not run with V5r2. We are still
on 2.5 (yes) with V4r5, and will be making the V5 leap soon, and I am 99%
sure you need at least Showcase 4.0 for V5r1. They are recommending
Showcase 4.5 for V5r2. I received this information from the support section
of their web site. Some patches also need to be applied with Showcase 4.0
install.

This product works well with World software, but it seems pretty expensive,
in my opinion.

We are running showcase 2.0 on v5r1.. But will be upgrading to 4.5 in the
near future... Does anyone have any gotchas??

The only gotcha we had was upgrading to V5R2 with Showcase....they only had
a "beta" version compatible with this version of the OS...fortunately for
us (me?) it worked....

The only problem I have run into when upgrading Showcase (we are on 4.0) is losing the security set up. Be sure to back up your Showcase library on the AS/400 (SCSERVER). I believe the Showcase upgrade procedure provides the steps needed to retain your secyrity set up. If not, I would call Showcase and ask for one. There is a lot of differences between 2.0 and 4.0 (we started on 1.0) so there it may be necessary to review your existing querys and reports after you upgrade to make sure they still work as expected.
