Hi!

I'm going to change my Servers in one location (Enterprise and deployment),
to get better performance, and I need to migrate my installation to a new
servers, actually there are in production.

I don't know the best way to change my OW, to my new servers.

Do you have any suggestions? I don't need to reinstall, do I?

Rafael,

if you want to change your Deployment and Enterpriser Servers I would change one at a time. There is documentation available on the KG to change out your DS. Search for "Deployment AND Change". I would install the new DS with the same network-ID (Server name). That makes it easier.

As you are in production, to change the ES, I would ADD the new server to your installation as an app-server and build a full package for it. If the new server is NOT the same platform as your present ES (HP9000) you need to order the server platform´s specific installation CD.
I would then move the database to your new server and repoint the OW Datasources to that new database.
You will have to change the client´s JDE.INI to point to the new server as Security Server. There is no harm having both servers up as Security Servers temporarily.
Lastly you will have to change all OCMs for UBEs and BSFNs to point to your new server.

Now it would be save to power down your old machine.

To save all the above steps you might just backup you entire machine and restore on the new one. Name the new ES the same as the old one and it should work. You only have to account for some downtime.

Good luck, Gerd

NB: have you ever thought of keeping your database on the old server and running UBEs only on your new server, or vice versa?
