Server Package Deployment

JDE List,

I had success deploying a Server Package to my Enterprise Server on 1/13 but
have been getting "Internal Error" messages ever since. Even when
attempting to install the same Server Package as on 1/13 I get the error.

Any ideas? Greatly Appreciated!!!

Did you reset the Install Status Properties from Installed (30) to Approved (20)? You can do this by selecting your package in the Work with Package Deployment Screen, and clicking Properties in the Row Exit.

JDE is famous for 'Internal Error' messages that are not error messages. Is
the error message on a specific object? If it is search the knowledge garden
you'll likely get some info telling you to ignore the message. On all our
partial package builds for fat clients we get 2 error messages that are not
error messages. On is a BSFN that has been removed (fixed in SP14). The
other error is that the number of GBRLINK records counted does not = the
number of GBRLINK records fetched.

Here's some of the 'nonsense' errors we get on B73.3.2 SP13.1

2001/01/24 16:37:28 0 Spec file GBRLINK begun.
2001/01/24 16:37:28 1 RDB record count in GBRLINK : 58450
2001/01/24 16:39:48 0 Number of TAM records fetched: 302.

2001/01/24 17:31:18 0 ERROR: Business function, B9800094 , not
built.

By the way if you go to SP 13.1 you'll get much nicer package build logs and
better info in the logs.

James,
Check to see that your ES and DS are in Sync. That is the same number of
packages exist in both ES and DS. In case they don't then you will need to
delete any package that is not in sync.

Next check to see that correct number of files exist in the pathcode of the
ES in the Bin and Spec directory. This problem may occur if some files are
missing also. In case any file is missing then copy those files from any
other pathcode into the directories and then build a full package and
redeploy.

I had faced the same problem a month ago. It was solved by doing the above
two options.

Thought I should let the list know what the resolution was to my inability
to successfully deploy a server packaqe.

I am working back and forth between two clients currently and it is
sometimes easy to get confused as to what I last did at what client.

My problem here was that I had done a recent Control Tables and Business
Data copy from PROD to CRP and the package I was attempting to deploy was
built before this copy. I built a new package (after the copy) and it built
and deployed successfully (both to the server and to the clients).

Thanks,
James
