RES: How to remove replication?

It has been replied here that you would have to empty the tables manually
and recompress the data.CAB. I agree on that.

Now, the real challenge to me would be how to remove the DATA portion from
all subsequent packages alltogether. Data replication to a local Access
dadabase has never been a good idea. It took JDEdwards until B733.2 (I
think) to deliver the OCMs to local databases disabled. A senior JDE
tech-manager once told me that the automatic replication never completely
worked anyway.

One could fiddle with the package.inf file to not install the Access
database to the WS. But it would be nice to not have to do that manually
with any new package.
I looked at the package assembly and could not find how to take out the
database part. There must be a way to configure the package components, or
is that one of these hard coded things?

Any ideas anybody?

Thanks, Gerd

Assunto: How to remove replication?

We are currently replicating our menus F0082, F00821, F0083, and F0084
in PY. I want to turn them off so I disabled them in Data Replication
application and then change the OCM to point to the Control Tables - CRP
instead of Local. This seemed to have done the trick. the menus are
being pulled from the server.

When I install a PY partial package, the jdeb7.mdb database in the
package directory on the deployment server still has the four menu
tables in them. I assume they are not needed but are still being
delivered to the workstation. If I rebuild the partial package, will
the jdeb7.mdb get built without these tables? or do I need to manually
remove them? thanks, gm.

I tried several ways to convince the package install not to include the local database, none worked. The JDE documentation says you don't need to include a database, but I could never get it not to. I finally decided that it didn't matter. Once replication is turned off, OneWorld can put whatever local database it wants on the client, it just won't be used.

I suggest you make a minimal jdeb7.mdb--one empty table--and let the package deploy that to the clients. As long as you don't have anything mapped to the OneWorld Local datasource, and don't have any replication going on, the client will ignore it.

Thanks for all the posts. I went into the path codes on the Dep Server
and modified the .mdb database and removed the data from the Access
tables and then compacted it. We are still replicating some other
stuff, but I was able to chop the size in half. gm.
