I was curious what reporting tools people are using for EnterpriseOne data. Are people simply using ERW or Crystal Reports, SQL Reporting Services or other????

We were using Information Builders on Coexistence. When we moved to Xe/E811 SP1 everything was written in ERW. Adhoc queries we used ShowCase Query 6.5.

Problem now is ShowCase Query 6.5 doesn't support Unicode it appears. All the data comes out as garbage when querying.

We use Crystal Reports 11, which supports Unicode, and is a REAL and fantastic reporting tool. We also have some UBE reports we still use, too.

Crystal and ERW. The users and developers prefer Crystal over the OneWorld report writer.

I'd appreciate hearing more about how you use Crystal Reports. Can you do downloads and if so, how easy is it to do? We are also 8.9, with Tools 8.9 sp2.

We use ERW, MicroStrategy, MS Access (going away!) in the process of implementing Data Access Studio, looking into Crystal Enterprise and we are also in the midst of a large scale data warehouse project which is going to tie together data from non-JDE datasources in addition to JDE data. Reason behind that piece is that management is not happy with the reports we have been able to provide them from JDE in comparison to other "non-realtime" applications in use by locations where we've not implemented JDE.

Not quite sure what you mean by downloads.

We run Crystal Reports in a batch-type setup, and e-mail the output to recipients as either Crystal Report files (with data included) or PDF files. The output can also be sent as a Word or Excel document. We have a few reports that are formatted specifically for export to Excel, and then our users can slice and dice the information however they want.

we use SQL reporting services. It is cool tool if you have a data warehouse where the data is formatted for use by non-JDE Querying tools. It is very efficient and we get the opportunity to provide data to larger audience and capability to schedule reports and email automatically through the reporting services.

Some quick thoughts:

We have tried and successfully consolidated our reporting solutions to limit to Crystal and ERW. We, on 8.11 are supporting ERW mainly because of unknown changes in the horizon. For now we have a dedicated resource only for reporting needs. In Financials area, more solutions are required such as Createforms, reduced security on Crystal by our users, and hopefully Fusion can answer reporting needs.

For the folks, who are consolidation minded, we feel that reducing outsourced applications as much as possible, focusing on ERP functionalities, and retrofitting within ERP gives better throughput. Understand very difficult for management to understand, and gibbrish to the need based users.
