Question about temp directory files on Enterprise Server

We have a large number of files building up in the following directory on our Enterprise server. They appear to be output-oriented files. Has anyone else run into these, and can they be safely deleted after a period of time (say, maybe a week)?

D:\JDE_HOME\targets\<Enterprise-Instance>\temp

FYI, file names appear like JDE_5624_6936_23_1234773029.

Tried opening them up with notepad

...they are submitted jobs of users.

Sure you can, i do delete this monthly.
