Payroll security and *all objects

[smile] After I applied Column Security to Payroll Rate file,
the user in a Group that was blocked could still access
these fields even after I put the same group in Application Security also.
I dug a little deeper to find that the user had *all object authority after our recent cutover to Xe from 7332.
What is the first step in implementing any security mode
w/out denying this user the ability to perform her other tasks
in OW?
Thanks-in-advance.

I would ask: What security setup did you have before the upgrade ? Did you have *Public turned off ? Did you grant authority for each program, or deny access by selected programs ?

IF you turn off * Public and grant access by program, you need to 1) find all the programs all users will need, 2) find the programs all users in each user group will need, including the programs called by programs on the menu, and put all that in the security table, 3) try all this on one PC with One World free-standing, 4) put it all in PROD. We did that. It works.

David,

Thank you for the good advice. I do now have a PC I can use to install
JDE Stand-alone and
go thru the scenario mentioned first.

Happy Holidays!
