Oracle Connections- JDBOCI dll

Good morning all.

We have a problem which I am hoping all the Oracle experts may be able to
help with.

We have been running Xe for 12 months on an Oracle 8.1.6 database. In the
Oracle init.ora file we had the compatability parameter set to 8.0.5 to
accomodate an interface application where the Oracle client needed to be
8.0.5. The JDBOCI dll on all the data sources and in the client JDE.ini file
has been set to JDBOCI80.dll for the connection to the database. During this
period we had some problems with cursors and data not getting written to the
database so we included the "OracleServerHandleReuse=0" parameter to out
JDE.ini file. This sorted out our problems and we have not had any data
errors since it was set.

Last weekend, we changed the compatability parameter in the Oracle init.ora
file to 8.1.0 in order to get log shipping to our new DR site up and
running. Since then we have seen the return of some of the data problems we
were seeing before the "OracleServerHandleReuse=0" parameter was set.

My question is: What JDBOCI dll are other Oracle shops on 8i running and
should we actually be using JDBOCI8i.dll?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
