Adrian,

Don't forget that not everyone uses the JDEList Forums. Many
subscribers use only the mailing list!

Re: RE: JDE Tech flash

Then they should add it to their signature in the e-mail program that they use to send to the JDELIST.

Re: RE: JDE Tech flash

Eric,
It seems I am missing something ... but ... WHY aren't they using the forum in order to handle the messages? WHY not using the archives subscriptions? Is there a particular reason? Are there any advantages in getting the messages in the old-fashioned email format (unthreaded and ... disorganized)? I hope somebody could enlighten me. Thank you.

RE: RE: JDE Tech flash

Because I don't have the time to set on a web page and participate in
discussions. I pick up messages at various times during the day, answer
them, send in the replies, and get off. Or I pick up messages, look at them
in the evening, and send in replies the next day. I have other things to do
that I get paid for so I can't spend the time online.

If the forum becomes Web-only or if the order or nature of the conversations
require a browser, I'm gone. I can't do it. Email got this forum where it
is. I would sack it would considerable care.

Re: RE: JDE Tech flash ...Explanation of JDEList email

This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.

Adrian:

I prefer email since I can forward/dump everything with a
"TO:[email protected]" folder. I can then sort by subject. Everything
that is uninteresting (for me), I can delete. Everything else gets a look.
It is efficient since I never see irrelevant messages (for me) more than
once.

Thanks,

RE: RE: JDE Tech flash

Well for one, not everyone has access to the web from work, only e-mail.
Another is that some prefer to receive all messages so that when they go on
the road, they have a portable JDEList or at least an archive of the the
more pertinent messages.

Re: RE: RE: JDE Tech flash

Thank you all for clarifications; available time and Internet connections were the reasons. Well, I was taking them for granted, for every Lister and so it seems I was wrong.

Today I learned something new.
Thanks again,

While it's been a very interesting discussion about the merits of e-mail versus forum does anyone have any idea how to subscribe to the tech-flash com from JDE as mentioned in david's original e-mail ? I really think he is saying that we could use this.
