So what ARE these changes to the underlying technology? Now I'm curious. I
have a customer that will be beginning a brand new installation of
EnterpriseOne 8.9.

Hi Pat,Working on a 8.9 install right now. So far, it's going smoothly
but, we're just beginning. Gerd is right about the changes to the
underlying technology.I'll try to make an effort to post any major 8.9
issues I encounter over the upcoming weeks/months.

I suggest you go to the knowledge jungle and get the net change documents.

Re: 8.9 Still Too Risky? What are the changes??

What changed?
The datasource definiton is quite different. We do not state the DLL name any more. There are extra parameters like DataClass. As far as I know the whole database access layer has been rewritten.
Then there are multiple roles to one user. That somehow impacts on security setup. The oexplorer.exe is gone. PS uses Unicode now. The DNT datasources for AS400 are gone. I did not see the 'W' environments any more.
What does that all imply ? I do not know yet. I am still trying to understand it all fully.
Hope this helped, Gerd
