Fail to advance objects

Hi,

I have encountered some problems when advancing customized objects from CRP to PROD. This does not happen to all objects. I have tried creating new objects and advanced, it looks fine. But for some existing objects it failed. I checked in debug log, the system failed to insert the objects into F9861 (OL Detail table). I open F9861 thru UTB, none of the failed objects found with PD7333 path. Only objects with PY7333 path code manage to be located in F9861.

Anyone has encounter this before? Your experienced is much appreciated.

Hi Nicholas,

Did you check the logging section in OMW, you should find there more
explanations about what happened.
One source of problem that I noticed is if you designed your object in one
project and then moved it to another project before promoting the project.
In that case, the transfer does not happen and you get an error message
stating that the object was designed in another project.
A quick way to fix that is to do a Check Out - Check In...

Hope this helps

Cheers

Philippe

Nicholas,

Just a few questions now.

1.) Which object type(s) does not advance?
2.) Were these objects advanced (succesfully) from DV7333 to PY7333 previously or do you created them under PY7333?
4.) Do you use the shipped Object Management Configuration or a custom one?
5.) Which status promotion did you do (From / To)?
6.) Did you checkt the project and object log in OMW? (Row / Logging / Log Detail / Full Text)

These informations can help us to figure out your problem.

Hey

a question.

Does the advancing project have all objects check in?

I've been bit by the check-in bug before that's why I asked.

Hi,
Many thanks for the input. I did tried that myself and managed to resolve the issue.

Just want to share out my experience on the testing on this issue.

For all new objects (including versions) created in a particular project say project A, we must advance these objects thru project A also. If someone try to advance thru another project say project B, the process looks successful because OMW did not shown any error after the advancing process. But actually, this process is considered fail as no records have been insert into F9861 table. You may not be able to locate these new objects in the targeted path code. But, if you release the objects' token and checkout in project B then do an erase check out (just to gain the token), the process of advancing will be ok. This applies for changing of existing objects and advances.

This is something new to me. The reason why I like to drag those objects to another project and advance from there, because the original project might contain quite a number of objects that may not required any new advance process. It may take longer time if the objects are huge.

Thanks for the notice. I do attempt to advance objects that way here. I will remember that for next time.
