Our company is getting geared up to upgrade to 8.10 from XE. Much to our chagrine we find that the CDCD field (Commodity Code) has been removed from the F4211 table. We were using that field to hold shipping information (trailer number in particular) for interplant shipments. The data values range from 1 to 14 characters (alpha and numeric).

If anyone else was using that field and have upgraded, can you share with us how you handled this field?

Thank you in advance.

just a suggestion, how abt a cat code instead? there are quite a number on F4211/F42119....

the UDC code will be populated into F4211, but its the UDC description is what will hold more than 14 characters.

Find another field is about all you can do. Cat codes are not upto 14 chars. Are you using up the user reserved fields? Try URRF.

I beleive that SDCDCD is/was used by the transportation module for the shipment number. I notice that F4211 now has the proper field SDSHPN for this purpose which probably replaced SDCDCD.

depending on what modules/finctionality you're using other options may include:

CNID - Container ID
SERN - Serial Lot Number (typically serial numbers use LOTN)
PMTN - (12 alpha) unless you use advanced pricing
SDIR01-05 (No clue what they do but they're new!)

Thank you for the suggestion. We thought about that but the data in the field is too volatile. (Maintenance would be a nightmare!) We have chosen the URRF field as CDCD's replacement. Once again, thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. URRF is the field we have chosen.
