Extracting JDE data?

Hello,

I'm new on this forum and I'm not familiar with JDE. So, here a basic question:

We want to extract data from JDE to our data warehouse. The table names are not very descriptive. In which repository table can I find the descriptions of tables and attributes?

Is their any smart solution extraction this data (Yes, we use an ETL-tool)?

Thanks in advance,

Frank

Frank,

I am not that technically minded but I could answer the second part of your question. Get yourself over to www.jdedirect.com and have a look at that. Basically it is a custom-made ODBC driver for JDEdwards. It is produced by Unity Enterprise Solutions and, as far as I know, is unique. You can use the simple UTB-style browser software they supply with it or try your favourite reporting tool, such as Crystal or Access. I have had a play and it is excellent.

When you use the driver and tools you have access to views over the database that have all the Field Names and smart links to UDC descriptions. Talk to Unity on +44 (0)1924 520030. They are based in the UK but access to the driver, licencing, etc is though the above web site.

IT would also be helpful to know your configuration. Most data extraction
tools are OS and DB specific. Not everyone is running what you are, and our
names are not Madame Cleo.
